Kathy Possum is a multi-award winning songwriter for children. Kathy won the Australian Songwriter's Conference Songwriting Competition (Children's Category) in 2009 with Cane Toad In My Lunchbox from the Exploring Australia Album and in 2010 with Popcorn (unreleased).

Something Very Fishy

Something Very Fishy has something for everyone. It is a mix of country, blues, pop, theatrical and circus music featuring:

  • Kathy Possum, Sven Tydeman, Bec Caruana, Candice Ellen and Peter Flanagan on lead vocals
  • Ruby & Jonah Prosser and Jasper Tydeman on kids vocals
  • Kathy Possum on piano, keyboards and mouth trumpet
  • Sven Tydeman on percussion, bass guitar, guitar, keyboards and sound effects
  • Claire O'Meara on mandolin, violin and piano accordian
  • Jim Conway on mouth organ

The album seeks to promote awareness of the damage people are doing to the marine environment through unsustainable fishing and plastic polution.

The Something Very Fishy album has 10 tracks.

  2. Enter The Seal is circus music about a seal that loves to balance a ball on its nose.
  3. Whats That Thing is childrens song about differentiating between sustainable and unsustainable seafood.
  4. Stu Pidder (Rich) is a theatrical song about a fisherman who wants to get rich at any cost.
  5. Don't Bite Me is a blues featuring 47 ocean related puns. Don't Bite Me can be requested on Community Radio throughout Australia courtesy of the Australian Government's AMRAP AirIt Unsigned Artists initiative.
  6. Five Little Sailors is a childrens song where each crew member of a sailing ship comes to grief when they fail to hang on.
  7. One Little Drop is a ballad about a little fish who needs our help to survive.
  8. Something Very Fishy is blues song about the plight of sharks.
  9. Stu Pidder (Broke) is a theatrical song about a fiherman who has taken too many fish and ruined his own fishery.
  10. The Real Treasure is a pop song about the Great Pacific Garbage patch and the damage plastics are having on the marine environment. The Real Treasure can be requested on Community Radio throughout Australia courtesy of the Australian Government's AMRAP AirIt Unsigned Artists initiative.

  10. Ornithorincus Anatina - Kathy Possum's Exploring Australia show was about the search for this iconic Australian animal
  11. Fair Dinkum - Fair Dinkum means genuine, honest and true. This song is as relevant in the local Kindergarten as it is in the local Pub. Fair Dinkum has been played on Jango in USA, Canada, UK, Australia, China, India, Phillipines, Japan, Bahrain, Poland, Sweden and Mexico.
